So glad my other lunch plan didn't work out so we ended up picking up some bento for our picnic at Crissy Field from Komeya and I couldn't be happier! Bonus since this is so close to Crissy Field as well. I got the salmon truffle bento and everything about it was to die for. The rice is so soft and perfectly chewy. My friend got the chicken katsu bento and she thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it as well. We already had drinks before coming so I skipped on the matcha but looked like every one there got a matcha with their meal and I was kind of sad I missed out. It was so good I went back after our picnic to pick up a chicken katsu obento for my bf for dinner and the seasonal hotaru ika sumiso since it sold out during lunch time. I would note that the squid was not what I had imagined. They are a loooot smaller than expected. Although the seasoning was good but I wouldn't get again Definitely will be back to try their matcha and other bentos

So good!! Worth the hype it's getting on social. We ordered the salmon soy truffle, salmon flake and salmon Ikura ochazuke (favorite of the group!) fish is fresh and portion is decent for overall bento. Also want to try their matcha. Order when it opens at 5pm for dinner, the line gets huge.

Came here on a Friday for lunch after seeing it all over tiktok / Instagram! I'd say it's more of a to-go spot than a typical dine-in restaurant due to its limited space. We waited for about 20 minutes for our food after ordering through the kiosk and although there are 2-3 benches to sit in the waiting area, there weren't any tables. We came at noon, but many of the more popular items were already sold out which was a bummer :( I ended up getting the bento with a duck drumstick and it was delicious. The duck meat was juicy and tender with thick chewy skin. It was on the saltier side but balanced with the rice and other side dishes (corn, brussel sprouts, and potato salad) made it very enjoyable. The only thing I would say is that it was on the pricier side, about $21 for a small bento. I would definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a balanced meal with lots of menu variety, however, you may have to take it home or find some place nearby to eat!

I took the trip to sf with a friend as she recommended this place to me. We ordered an iced matcha latte and the salmon truffle soy bento box. The matcha had a strong flavor and I ordered 25% sweetness and it wasn't too sweet. The salmon was tender and the wasabi added a nice kick to it. There were side included such as been sprouts, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, and brussel sprouts. The wait time was around 15 minutes and the inside has minimal seating so I wouldn't bet on getting a spot. The wait time was likely shorter because we went on a weekday during lunchtime. They do have a few decorations around the counter but otherwise a very minimalist location. Ordering is through a touchscreen butt he staff were very attentive in making sure we had utensils on our order to go.

Pretty solid Japanese takeout spot in the Marina! You can order online for pickup -- I've heard that lines can get long so I opted for this option. Our order was ready when we arrived and everything was packaged nicely in a reusable bag. The staff were friendly and the inside was clean and orderly, with a few tables for indoor dining. I got the matcha latte with red bean and mochi; I'll start off by saying Komeya has one of the best matcha lattes in the city. It wasn't too sweet, the matcha flavor was noticeable and rich. The mochi in the drink was a miss for me because of the texture though, but I really liked the red bean flavor. We got the following 2 bentos: - salmon truffle soy: fresh, large pieces of salmon. I was pleasantly surprised by the truffle flavor, which was clearly evident but not overpowering. - chicken katsu: crispy breading, and the chicken was moist. very large portion size Both bentos came with rice and a variety of sides including bean sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes, potato salad, corn, and brussel sprouts. The rice paired well with the main protein but I found the sides to be quite bland and lacking distinct flavors from one another. Overall, a good place to pick up meals for a picnic nearby.

This has been on my list for a long time but circumstances didn't align until this past sunny Saturday! Normally I'd be hard-pressed to be in the Marina fighting for parking but my friend and I ended up in the area after exploring the Presidio/Palace of Fine Arts. We got to Komeya no Bento at around 1:45 and there was a small line out the door and a huge crowd inside. Seeing this we decided to order through UberEats hoping it would be faster - unfortunately, we ended up getting everything around 3 (and they close at 2:30!). I'm not sure if ordering directly through their website is faster; it's definitely cheaper though/not marked up (which I didn't know at the time! The food itself was worth the wait in the end but I would definitely plan better next time. We tried: - matcha latte: a nice deep green, it was thick and had a prominent matcha flavor with just the right amount of sweetness - salmon in truffle soy obento: generous amount of buttery salmon! The truffle taste was subtle but added some nice contrast, along with the bright yuzu soy. - chicken katsu obento: the chicken was thick and tender and the creamy (mayo-based?) sauce was a nice change from the typical kind of tangy sweet katsu sauce - I loved every single little side bite - especially the roasted Brussels sprout (which was random to me in a bento) and the sweet corn Overall, yum with caveat of high hurdles to actually obtain the goods!

Came here for a Saturday lunch with a friend. We ended waiting 1+ hour for our food, seems like they lost our order? Aside from customer service/wait time. I thought the food was not bad, a solid 8/10. The fish tasted fresh and the Brussels sprouts and corn was pretty tasty. Rice was cold, but not hard. I probably would order ahead, or come on a less busy day if I were to come back. Felt pretty frustrating and (slightly) hangry from the wait, and there was no compensation for going over double the estimated time we were given upon placing the order.

Omg i've been wanting to try for so long after seeing people post about it on Tiktok. So worth the hype. The truffle salmon bento was delicious. It had the perfect ratios of everything, and there wasn't a single thing I disliked. I CLEARED my food. The store inside is really small with limited seating, but I feel like it's a great to go option for like a picnic or something. I went to Dolores park to enjoy my food. We ordered our food online and waited inside to pick it up. It was relatively quick despite the long line of people ordering. Parking sucks because you have to find street parking, but it's honestly worth it. 100% would return.

Cute little hole in the wall Japanese bento place in SF in a residential neighborhood. Parking can be a challenge so give yourself enough time if driving. The bento boxes are so cute and the fish is really fresh. I didn't find the slices to be too thin and the truffle seasoning was deliciously savory with fluffy white rice. Service was easy as you order on a screen. There are two high top tables on the side for seating so most people just get take out. The strawberry matcha was really tasty and fresh. Would come back just for this. Nice new spot in SF!
